Astrology Class
With Sandra Jennings
Third Friday of the month for 6 months
Beginning Friday, February 15th
7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Social Hall
Cost $30 per Class Meeting

Your Birth Chart is your handbook, your owner’s manual, describing the possibilities you chose while in the Spirit prior to your present incarnation. It is literally your Sacred Contract with yourself. In a series of 6 classes, I’ll share all the details of your birth chart, explain its elements and how they apply to your life.  By the end of the series, you’ll be able to read your chart and will have received a complete Birth Chart interpretation. Printed material accompanies each class. I need your correct birth date, place and time, prior to class to provide your chart and prepare your individual reading for EACH CLASS.  No book purchase is necessary, but I will have a notebook that includes an index of terms for a suggested price of $15.

Sandra teaches at Brahma Shanti Yoga and via video conferences. She has been a practicing Astrologer for 50 years with teaching and readings at: Celestine Center, Frisbie Mansion, McCormick Mansion, Helen’s Closet Boutique, Urban Refuge Day Spa, House of Conscious Living Yoga and Center for Spiritual Living, Redding. We will paint from actual arrangements and reference materials. Students are encouraged to bring small items for consideration in setting up a still life. Mondays, May 20th to June 24th (no class on 5/27)
3:00 to 5:00 PM, in the Meditation Pavilion
Donations Gratefully Accepted

Wondering what The Honeymoon Effect is? If you have ever been in love, you already know. Dr. Lipton defines it as, “A state of bliss, passion, energy and health resulting from a huge love. Your life is so beautiful that you can’t wait to get up to start a new day and thank the Universe that you are alive.” The book describes not only what this effect is, but how and why it occurs and how we can purposely create and maintain it in our everyday lives. The author covers the influence of quantum physics, biochemistry and psychology in creating and maintaining healthy, loving relationships, not only for ourselves, but also for the healing of our planet. A group discussion will be followed by a meditation session and a closing treatment. The Introduction and Chapter 1 will be discussed at the first meeting and the group will meet for five weeks. $105 by Sunday, May 19th; $125 Thereafter + Optional $20 Certificate Fee

Spiritual fitness is a lifestyle and an attitude that can help you rediscover the real meaning and sacredness of your life. Like physical fitness, it is not a one-time experience - it needs your ongoing commitment. To stay spiritually fit means living in truth and trust, i.e., being yourself at the deepest level in everything you do and bringing all of you to your life experiences. It also means trusting that there is a greater power constantly guiding you and inviting you, through your life experiences, to live more openly and lovingly. When we trust, we start to make our choices and decisions from a place of love and courage instead of from fear. This in turn gives us clarity and strength. This class is 8 weeks long. LIVING WHILE DYING
An Intimate, Personal Documentary Film by Cathy Zheutlin
Saturday, June 22, 2019
7:00 PM, in the Sanctuary
Suggested $10 Donation

Everything You Wanted to Know About Conscious Dying and Were Afraid to Ask

As a baby boomer, Cathy became curious about death, and decided to pick up her camera and film four friends with terminal illnesses who chose to live out their days in hospice-care at home. Along the way, she sought the advice of an aboriginal elder and a deathwalker in Australia, witnessed a mass cremation in Bali, and asked her 90-year old mother to sit in a coffin while they discussed her end-of-life wishes. Are we, without noticing, reinventing death? Don, Cathy’s tango partner, said “Cathy, dying doesn’t have to be sad,” and then took medication from Oregon Death with Dignity.  She bounces between fears, awareness and denial.  Yet death is ever-present.  Though random, it’s certain: soon her parents will die.  She doesn’t want to lose them. Death will take them differently.  Her dad, 90, a medical doctor, will use every medical means within reason to stay alive (she thinks…she doesn’t know because he doesn't like to talk about it), while her mom, also 90, is so comfortable she discusses death as if planning a picnic. How do we prepare? Is it possible to die well? Download the flyer.

Sunday Services with Rev. Karen Drucker and Gary Lynn Floyd
“Shine Your Light – Heal the World”
June 30, 2019
9:00 and 10:30 AM

Karen’s message will be based on a wonderful Marianne Williamson quote where she says, “It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’” Actually, who are you not to be? The truth is we need your light. The world needs your gifts, your humor, your perceptive, your love and your passion. Karen recognizes that she is being selfish - her motivation is that she wants you to shine your light because it also gives her the permission to shine her, and she truly believes that is what this world needs right now, to be healed and for us to come together in peace. In her talk, we will look at how we can practice self-care, loving kindness and compassion to shine our lights, and in so doing, heal the world. Download the flyer.

“To hold one’s thought steadfastly to the constructive, to that which endures, and to the Truth, may not be easy in a rapidly changing world, but to the one who makes the attempt much is guaranteed.” --Ernest Holmes

Many of you have invested a lot of time and study in the philosophy of this teaching. Some of you may wonder what this teaching is all about. This class is designed to see how you are mastering the principles and how to develop a deeper appreciation of the power of affirmative prayer. Christ the King Passionist Retreat Center, Citrus Heights, California
With Doug von Koss and Larry Robinson of Rumi’s Caravan
Friday through Sunday, November 1st through 3rd
$320 per man—$50 Deposit Due Beginning Sunday, March 3rd to Reserve Your Spot
Limited to 18 Men

This year the retreat will be at a Spanish style mission-like setting. Each man will have his own room and six meals will be served. The presenters are being provided room and board only. At the end of the retreat, there will be an opportunity to practice the spiritual idea of "Dana," which is when a teaching is given in the spirit of selfless service, and the recipient of the teaching then spiritually practices generosity by giving alms and respect to the teacher. This would be in accordance with what each man gained from the retreat and his ability to pay.  Please sign up at with the Board Member on Sundays or in the office Monday through Thursday. Please call Roy Woolfstead at 246-1017 with any questions.

MEN'S GROUP

MEN’S GROUP
Monday, June 10th
7:00 to 9:00 PM, in the Sanctuary

The Men's Group is centered around discussions and creating friendship among the men of this community. They examine topics brought by those who attend. The goal is to allow each man to become a better human being. Bring your issues, ideas, articles and poems. It is for the men in the circle to create a dynamic and safe space to explore who they are and what they want to become. Contact Roy Woolfstead at 246-1017 or at rdwoolf3@gmail.com with any questions.
