MINISTER’S MESSAGE

The Spiritual Journey

“In expressing more life, we are expressing a greater degree of Infiniteness of the Spirit. We are more completely personifying It. This is the real purpose and meaning of existence. It is the nature of the Spirit to express through us, not in limitation, fear, or want, but in freedom.” ~~ Ernest Holmes, Lessons in Spiritual Mind Healing

And so, here we are, all of us on this incredible spiritual journey. We see each other in our humanness and share stories of living our humanity … all the while within us, as us, is our deep longing for spiritual guidance and truth. We might not always meet our own standards and certainly are quick at times to recognize when

others are not living up to our expectations, either. Yet, here we are … all on the planet together at the same time, being our unique expression of the Divine. Just as people question us, “What do you do in your life?”, is the alternative question lurking in minds, “What do you do in your spiritual life?” Take it one step deeper and ask the question, “Are you willing to go beyond your perceived limits and transcend what seems unattainable?” What are your aspirations for “becoming the spiritual being” you are driven to be? Will you arrive there, retreat there, end your life there? Feel satisfied? Recognize it even? Then, will you stay awake?

These are the things I think about on vacation…We recently travelled to Banff in Canada, choosing to drive and see the land, rivers, skies, and mountains. Our destination was the Centers for Spiritual Living Summer Retreat Conference. Our time was filled with amazing, uplifting talks, rituals, and music. It was a crowd of wonderful people, each seeking a deeper understanding of the nature of the Divine. The theme related to the “Dark Night of the Soul.” Not the feel-good title that one anticipates, but it was rich with insights and heartfelt stories of the vulnerable moments in our lives that are life changing and only enrich our connections to one  another. What I personally appreciated was the genuine respect for the Science of Mind® Philosophy and our founder Ernest Holmes. The devotional practices and prayers renewed my passion for this spiritual journey we all walk in. And when do we finally feel complete? Never! God is so much more. The journey is always calling us. The journey is always resetting our course as we grow in understanding.

Fall classes begin this month. We have such a variety of workshops and classes to keep you curious and       encourage you to explore your true nature. Starting with an amazing presenter on September 6, Cathy Draeger, an Emeritus Practitioner, will visit us from Southern California. Helping others deal with grief is her passion. You will also meet Dr. Kathleen Riley this month, who will present a workshop on HeartMath Coherence on

September 20. Our teaching staff from CSLR are ready as well to dive into the weekly class schedules. It is all about the journey … we are in it together.

Blessings of joy,
