 MINISTER’S MESSAGE

“The point of experience is not to escape life but to live it. Each of us carries some wisdom waiting to be discovered at the center of our experience, and everything we meet, if faced and held, reveals a part of that wisdom. We have a language of truth growing in our heart that only living can decode. Truth is a seed hidden in the days until watered by our experience.” ~~ Mark Nepo

This quote inspires the direction we take this month in exploring the topic of “Becoming.”  Mark Nepo is an incredible author, and his insights come from the heart of his experiences. Spring is here and we get to enjoy the Easter Renewal Service together to start the month off. We recommit personally to our reflections of renewal and transformation. I find it rather synchronistic that our ministerial candidate, Rev. Lisa Carson, shows up this month as we explore the art of becoming. (4/19) Then sharing time with Rev. Dr. Andrea Asebedo who was one of the founding ministers of our Center at the end of the month (4/26). We get to enjoy the full circle of experience she has lived since she recently retired from Bellingham CSL. We have deep-hearted spiritual messages to help shape our consciousness into the Truths we long to align with. Still though we remain open at the top because our spiritual   journey is one of appreciating the Presence forever fulfilling our days with love and purpose. We keep growing wiser and kinder!

Enjoy the Holistic Healing Arts Faire on April 4th to help inspire your curiosities. These individuals who come together to share their passion and healing arts come with pure intentions to help you stay centered and confident on your path. It is a day of delightful and fruitful conversations with others.

Every opportunity spent with wholesome spiritually connects us deeper and becomes the roadmap for living in the Presence and becoming faithful to our practices. We look forward to the fellowship as our beloved community gets closer to one another and we lean on one another in service for a greater good to be experienced by all.

Make this your peaceful day…with love,  Rev. Sue MillerBorn

CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING, REDDING
NEW MINISTER SEARCH COMMITTEE
INVITATION FOR COMMUNITY

INTENTION AND SUPPORT

COMMUNITY PRAYER

There is only One… One Spirit, One Heart, One Mind. This Universal Spirit is infinitely intelligent, infinitely love, and always accessible. It is indwelling in each of us and expresses as a positive force, attracting to our Center the right and perfect spiritual leader.

We know together, as a community, that our Center always moves in the Light and welcomes, with enthusiasm, a new leader. Our next minister brings wisdom, newness, love, charisma, and joy with them, as well as deep, spiritual principles to share.

It is with excitement and love that we extend this invitation, embracing the reality of a new minister and the reality of change and growth. Divine Mind is at the center of this, orchestrating a perfect transition to serve the needs of our community.

It is with deep gratitude and clear intention that we release this prayer, knowing the right and perfect minister is awake, ready, and receptive to this invitation to serve. Our hearts are filled with grace and thanksgiving as we know that these words matter and that they are released to the Divine with assured results.

And so it is!

(except on holidays)
9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Meditation Pavilion

Please Note: This used to be called Reality Retreat Meditation. In Sanatana Dharma, the ideal is always to be one with consciousness. The journey and purpose of life is to realize this ideal, through inner transformation, which is only possible through spiritual awareness. Our Master, His Holiness Sri Muralidhara Swamiji says, “Joy and sorrow are the only two known states of mind, as far as man is concerned. Divinity is to get past this dual state and be in a constant state of bliss”. Reality Retreat Meditation is one where we aim to retreat back to Reality (consciousness) through the constant repetition of the Divine Mahamantra – the sound from the Happiness plane. The unique changing pattern of the Mahamantra (Greatest Mantra), 6-3-2 cycle, naturally takes our vision inward. Constant and dedicated repetition guarantees mental strength, proven to lead to happiness. This meditation strives to inspire all in the path of inner excellence, and to realize that our happiness is in our control. It helps to improve attention, relieve stress, bring positivity, and face challenges with poise. Contact Nithya at (530) 355-8384 with questions.

This 10th anniversary edition of the beloved #1 New York Times bestseller includes a new introduction and afterword by the author. Chronicling the lifelong friendship between a busy sales executive and a disadvantaged young boy that began with one small gesture of kindness, this is a “ray of hope for a better future, as well as an assurance that love is a stronger force than injustice and inequality” (Sybrina Fulton, mother of Travyon Martin and coauthor of Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin).

Stopping was never part of the plan...

She was a successful ad sales rep in Manhattan. He was a homeless, eleven-year-old panhandler on the street. He asked for spare change; she kept walking. But then something stopped her in her tracks, and she went back. And she continued to go back, again and again. They met up nearly every week for years and built an unexpected, life-changing friendship that has today spanned almost three decades.

Whatever made me notice him on that street corner so many years ago is clearly something that cannot be extinguished, no matter how relentless the forces aligned against it. Some may call it spirit. Some may call it heart. It drew me to him, as if we were bound by some invisible, unbreakable thread. And whatever it is, it binds us still.

Now with new material that brings the life-changing story up to date for its 10TH anniversary, An Invisible Thread is “a book capable of restoring our faith in each other and in the very idea that maybe everything is going to be okay after all” (Catherine Ryan Hyde, author of Pay It Forward).

Shasta County’s Klezmer Ensemble: “Sheine Nechome” (pronounced Shayna Neshama) Sheine Nechome means beautiful soul in Yiddish. They are the far north states only group performing Klezmer music, which is traditional music from old Jewish settlements of the late 1800’s in eastern and central Europe, Yiddish theater favorites from the early 1900’s, Ashkenazi classics, and contemporary pieces in the Klezmer style. The music gives cultural insight into the Ashkenazi Jewish community and family life from well over a hundred years ago.

Much of Klezmer, being dance-oriented, was originally played at weddings and other celebrations. With the addition of lyrical theater pieces, you can hear that the music gives cultural insight into Ashkenazi Jewish community and family life in those days and embodies both humor and heart. As many early Klezmer players were traveling minstrels, you may hear musical influences from neighboring geographical areas beyond eastern and central Europe

AWAKENING TO ONENESS WITH LIFE MEDITATION
With Jill Matthews
Second and Fourth Thursdays of Each Month
(except on holidays)
6:30 to 8:00 A.M. in the Meditation Pavilion
Suggested $10 Donation per Person

Join me as we awaken more deeply to life by learning and practicing meditation and mindfulness techniques. Open to vibrant presence as we release what no longer serves us, embrace the present moment through the breath, and raise our vibration by inviting gratitude and love more fully into our lives. The teachings I share are based upon the education I received during a two-year meditation and mindfulness certification training led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. These concepts and practices also come from several years of mediation with a local monk, from a broad variety of books, and from an array of spiritual leaders. I believe there is something meaningful and significant to learn from each experience in life and from opening to a variety of methods and belief systems. My desire is to share my enthusiasm for meditation, and for deepening a connection to All. Some of my goals for this group are that together we will create a sense of deep connection and community. That our meditation group will be a place where each participant will feel safe and accepted. Where there is no one right way, and where kindness and openness are always present. We will learn various tools that can assist in living with more peace and presence in our lives. Some topic examples are:

Dealing with difficult emotions
Accessing your Higher Self
Softening around stress
Present Moment Living
Confronting Fear
Finding answers
Mental Clarity
Grounding
Gratitude

More to come on the last Sunday of June…

This personal message from Rev. Sue MillerBorn is an invitation to join us in person if you can. If you have been gone for a while, it is time to stop by. June 28  marks my last official message as a Senior Minister. I have danced with the idea of retirement for   several years and realized I needed to put a date down in order for it to manifest for the highest and best for all. I am walking with a heavy heart and a light heart, but it is time. A Good is unfolding in the transformation of the Center and this is what we want to celebrate together. There is a history of the Center that lives in the walls of my heart. The tender times and the best of times lead us to this  celebration of our Center. Come celebrate with music and friendships that continue to lean on one another. Special guests are on their way. You are special too.

HATHA YOGA
With Rev. Sue MillerBorn
Mondays and Wednesdays of Each Week
(September through June)
5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary
$5 per Person per Evening

Traditional Hatha Yoga is a holistic Yogic path, including disciplines, postures (asana), purification procedures (shatkriya), gestures (mudra), breathing (pranayama), and meditation. The Hatha Yoga predominantly practiced in the West consists of mostly asanas understood as physical exercises (postures). It is also recognized as a stress-reducing practice that attempts to balance body and mind. Asanas teach poise, balance, and strength, and are practiced to improve the body’s physical health, and to clear the mind in preparation for meditation. We will continue our usual schedule every Monday and Wednesday as we reenter a routine for our wellbeing. Zoom option will still be available. Please feel free to contact Rev. Sue MillerBorn at shantiananda@hotmail.com with any questions.

CATS AND THE CENTER

We have a team working on safely trapping the feral cat population explosion on our property. We will  be getting them spayed or neutered to calm things down. If you would like to donate to the cause with some financial support to the team for medical expenses, please contact Lorie Barnes in the office at (530) 221-4849 or lorie@cslredding.org. Thank you.

STRIPE ONLINE GIVING

What is Stripe? Stripe is an online platform that allows church congregations to give more easily than ever. Stripe’s technology connects faith-based, nonprofit organizations nationwide. Those who participate in our Stewardship Program via credit card are encouraged to sign up with Stripe  because it’s simple to do, it’s secure, and it will save the Center money because Stripe charges us lower fees than our bank does for processing credit card giving. You can already give through Stripe via the Donation page on the Center’s website. You can visit the Center’s page at Stripe at https://donate.stripe.cobJecN64hD3kq0Bo03QeAg00 to sign up or you can scan the QR code.
