SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ~~ Anais Nin

It’s been a wonderful month so far as I have been able to connect with many of you on a deeper level. I feel a surge of loving energy throughout our Center and recognize it is not something we are separate from. It is constantly     informing our activities & interactions. Everything is woven together, inspiring our next moment. A positive addition this month has been participating with SOAR (Spirit of Adventure Renewed), the group run by Cher Matthews, as we connect with the presence of Spirit in nature and throughout our greater community. Community outreach will be our   focus for the next few months as well.

The July theme of Building Bridges to the Future was personally designed as a way of introducing some of my spiritual philosophies to the community. I was grateful for the receptivity of members as they embraced new ideas, as we moved forward together.

Now as we flow into August, I will once again be following the Centers for Spiritual Living’s Global monthly themes. For August, the month’s theme is  The Fear and The Furious as we explore the significance of fear and fury (anger) in our spiritual development. Anger as a Force for Change is the title for August 2, and it explores how we can honor our anger and still choose love as we consider change. Fierce Clarity, the title for August 9, looks at how fear becomes a compass encouraging us to see it as a means of moving toward  clarity rather than confusion. In The Presence of Fear for August 16 explores the idea that fear is not a threat, but a teacher from whom we can learn. Rev. Andy Torkelson from Chico will be speaking on Mobilizing Anger on August 23. He examines how we can transform our anger into compassionate action for our shared good. Finally, Building an Open and Collaborative Environment will wrap up the month on August 30. It brings the themes together by looking at how to stay open amid a fear response.

I look forward to seeing many of you in person, to share our beautiful, upgraded Center. Much work has been done after the floods to “Glow it up” with a fresh look of new paint, carpeting, and other flooring. I also want to answer any questions you may have about the Center, as well as to hear your comments and suggestions, so please swing by.

Blessings and love,

 Rev. Lisa Carson
